Will you light the way for the next generation?

That retreat changed everything.
Through CSU, Sebastian found a community where he could authentically grow in faith and build friendships grounded in Christ. But his biggest transformation came when he began serving at the Kearney Center, a local homeless shelter.
Today, Sebastian serves as one of CSU’s service leaders, guiding other students to experience the joy of serving others. He now sees the world through a lens of compassion and strives to love others as Christ loves them.
“Service makes you more compassionate and understanding. It teaches you to love people where they are, just as Christ would.”
Sebastian’s perspective on life began to shift. He realized that people’s hardships are often beyond their control and that true service is about building relationships, not just giving.
One of his most impactful experiences was meeting Miss Lydia, a Venezuelan refugee isolated by language and circumstance. Being one of the only Spanish speakers, Sebastian built a meaningful friendship with her.
“Miss Lydia taught me so much about faith and perseverance. Even in her struggles, she always trusted God. Her joy and courage inspired me to see beyond my own challenges.”
